Bob Ross was an Entrepreneur Badass

January 3, 2013 Inspiring Businesses by Kelly Leave a Comment

You probably remember him as the guy with an afro painting “happy little trees” on PBS, but for millions of people who grew up watching, and sometimes painting with, Bob Ross, most are unaware of his entrepreneur side. It turns out Bob Ross was an inspiring entrepreneur and badass.

2013 Commitments: Don’t Break the Chain

December 31, 2012 Personal Development by Kelly 1 Comment

As we enjoy the last day of 2012 I have another commitment for you to make for 2013.

It’s something a friend taught me years ago: Don’t Break the Chain.

As kids, we all loved making those loopy countdown chains to get ready for vacation, Christmas, the end of school. But this flips that practice to envision creating a new paper chain where you get to add a loop every day you achieve your new habit. And every time you consider skipping on your habit just think “don’t break the chain.”  Continue Reading →

2013 Commitments: Follow Through

December 27, 2012 Personal Development by Kelly Leave a Comment

One of the biggest ways you can transform your life and business in 2013 is to follow through on the commitments you make. This will not only grow your business by leaps and bounds but establish you as a person of integrity and limit what you say yes to.  Continue Reading →

2013 Commitments: What are you Tracking?

December 17, 2012 Systems by Kelly 2 Comments

This is part 2 of a series on commitments for 2013. Get the full list here and check back for the rest of the commitments throughout December!

Every December coaches go nuts telling their audience to “set goals!” “dream big!” and “plan for success!” and while all of those are good, and even necessary, they often leave out an essential piece of the process.

If you don’t have a system for tracking then you’re not only going to forget about your goals as soon as something bright and shiny comes along but it’ll be too much work to track it anyway.

2013 Commitments: Get the Right Support

December 13, 2012 Team & Support by Kelly 1 Comment

For the remainder of the month I’ll be sharing a series on commitments for 2013. I know, everyone is talking about goal setting and plans but these are overarching lessons which, if you embrace, will strengthen those goals in the next year.

There have been many times in my business when I stubbornly insisted, like a spoiled 4 year old, I can do it myself. And while I’ve sometimes been correct it almost always takes more time, energy and money than if I had asked for and accepted support. Let’s face it, we’re not good at everything a business requires and if you try to be then you might find yourself a “jack of all trades, master of none.”

Hire and Test a VA for $20 or Less

December 10, 2012 Outsourcing by Kelly 1 Comment

Fear and doubt stop many entrepreneurs from getting the help they need in their business. It’s estimated that over 20 million small businesses are solo operations and in addition to putting 100% of the work on the owner, we know that those companies can’t build a legacy without help. Even worse, you probably can’t take a day or hour off without the business stopping.

So why do so many entrepreneurs stop short of hiring? It can’t be that they don’t know how – my free video series on Finding Fabulous Help has been downloaded and watched by hundreds of people who need this kind of support.

I’m pretty sure it’s just the fear holding them back. Let me teach you how to minimize the risk and test your new VA for as little as $20 to find out if it’s a good fit.  Continue Reading →

Are you Responsible? Or is it Fate?

December 6, 2012 Personal Development by Kelly 1 Comment

It’s completely fascinating to me how many times we refuse to take responsibility for the success of our businesses (or most often, the failure to succeed) instead relegating fault to “the Universe” or “fate” or “Mercury in retrograde!”

While I believe in positive mindsets, affirmations and believing the best is going to happen I’m here to tell you stop blaming your business failures on the planets when the real reason is a lack of planning and systems. Continue Reading →

What is a Sequence and Why Do I Need One?

December 4, 2012 Marketing by Kelly Leave a Comment

This is a question that I find many entrepreneurs are afraid to ask when we start talking about marketing systems to grow their business to the next level.

Most often you’re familiar with a broadcast, which is a message designed to reach many people at the same time with the same message. You may already do this with a newsletter, promotion or business update. With a broadcast every subscriber gets the same message at the same time.

Knowing vs. Doing

November 28, 2012 Personal Development by Kelly Leave a Comment

In this third video in the training series I share the difference between knowing something and doing it. Get Video 1 How Much is Over Giving Costing You? here and Video 2 What Triggers Over Giving?

In this video you’ll learn:

When it’s easy to say no to a request
Do you know how to say no?
Listen to what you know is right by saying no to doing free work
Why we don’t always appreciate what we get free
How to get committed clients who are invested in the process
The most difficult part of knowing what to do
Do you know what to say when you’re asked to do free work
How do you present your boundaries in a respectful way?
Creating consistent boundaries and when to make exceptions

Action Step: If you KNOW that you shouldn’t be over giving but are not stopping it from happening in your business then now is the time to act.
