When I first sat down to write this post I thought that I should just say “be consistent and authentic!” and call it a day. But honestly, that’s such a cop out. There are things that maybe you shouldn’t reveal! So let’s get real about what it really takes to attract ideal clients to your online business.
1. Get deep in their skull and read their mind. Specifically, find out what questions they’re typing into Google when they’re feeling stuck, frustrated or fearful. Because if I type in “how to cook chicken breast in the oven” and find the first result is “how to cook the perfect chicken breast in the oven” that’s exactly where I’m clicking!
(Note: if you found my blog looking for poultry recipes, I cannot help you in any way.)
Too many bloggers are writing posts and making videos with titles that include phrases that no regular human would use. If at all possible, make the title the same question your ideal client is likely to ask.
(Not sure how they really think? Try this exercise first.)
The system here is simple:
a) Make a list of all the questions your new clients or ideal client might ask and add to it every time you hear a new, interesting question.
b) Post videos, podcasts and blogs answering those questions regularly – at least monthly but better still, every 1-2 weeks.
It looks easy, right? But the challenge is in follow-through! Start by adding time to your calendar to write this content so it doesn’t end up on a mental list that goes nowhere.

2. Go where the people are. I almost burst out into a Little Mermaid song just there. But it’s true; you’ve got to be present where your clients are hanging out. Want to know why the photographer I worked with flies to New York, Paris, and Spain? Because that’s where people are willing to work with her! Why do people use YouTube? Because that’s where people go to watch videos.
Your people are not in one location, they’re spread all over the internet, so you need to get strategic about where you’re going to be present and prioritize. Also, get help from a team member so you’re not sucked into the black hole that is Facebook.
For some people, it’s not hard to find where their ideal client hangs out but speaking up and saying “I can help” is a challenge. So the second part of this tip is to find people, then share how you can support them whether with free content, a workshop, recommendation or paid program or service.
It sounds simple, but I know it can be difficult to complete.
Another deceptively simple system is probably the hardest…
3. Invite leads to talk to you. Every single time someone complains about not having enough leads, I can usually pinpoint the problem in a missing system. Do you invite leads to speak to you about working together? Is your contact information readily available for a new lead? If someone reaches out do you have a follow up system in place?
You might have the most amazing program, a clear ideal client profile, and all the positive mindset tools at hand but if you don’t actively invite leads to become clients, you won’t be getting clients.
Take a look at your ideal client profile and all of the challenges and problems they are facing. It’s going to be hard enough for this person to step forward and commit to changing; if they can’t easily get more information or contact you, then it’s just another barrier in their way.
Make it easy!

The reality is that people are out there looking for solutions, whether it’s a personal goal or a business struggle. Being consistent and showing up to share what you have to offer is half the battle of finding and attracting ideal clients to your business. By aligning the “what” that you offer with the “who” in your ideal client with the “where” those leads are hanging out, the end result is more closed sales.
