It’s time for most students to begin the school year, and there are some great deals to be found in the back to school sales. Here’s my list of 8 favorites you can get deals on:
Compressed Air – you’ll find this in the college/dorm section and since everything is on sale for cash-strapped college students, you can find some good deals on these little cans to keep your electronics in working order. Every time I pick up a new can, it’s a good reminder to give my computer and printer and good cleaning
Sharpies – are you teaching a workshop or class this year? Then pick up a combo pack of sharpies for your flip charts and signage. You’ll find great deals this time of year.
Dry Erase Markers – another staple for teachers that’s great to have on hand for teaching in front of white boards or making lists. I keep a to do list on a piece of framed glass in my office.
Notecards – these packs of 50 are usually under a dollar and great for cue cards when you’re recording videos or teaching. They’re also handy for writing your your goals to keep them in your visio.
12 or 18-month calendar – while these also come on sale in December, sometimes you can find them for the school year to plan out your events, launches, and conference schedule. Not a big fan of paper calendars? Pick one up for your marketing or to track your goals.
File folders – again, you might be attempting paper-free, but if you need to keep any type of files for your clients or business, then a box of file folders is handy to have on hand.
Post-it notes – keeping track of last minute to dos, writing notes to your family or team… Post-it notes are my favorite.
File boxes – I used to see these filing crates and think they were cheap and useless until I needed to haul welcome packets, handouts, and all kinds of goodies to an event. Pick up a box or two for your next trade show or event. Remember the garish colors just mean they’re less likely to be stolen.
Remember to record your receipt for business expenses and happy shopping!
Action Step: Write down what office supplies you actually use throughout the year so you can find the best prices or put them on auto order. Related task: stop buying stuff you don’t need or use and donate the excess to a school or teacher you know.
