Do you love and appreciate your clients? If not, then I’d highly suggest pursuing a different line of work pronto. But if you do appreciate your clients then it may be hard to figure out how to appropriately show how much you care.
It’s easy to overthink this process but with a simple client appreciation system you can be sure to follow through for every new client, every time.
Here are 3 ways to show client appreciation:
1. Send a (handwritten) thank you card
Here’s the thing, no one sends personal thank you cards. They’ll either do a Send Out Card or forget entirely so when you do this simple step it’ll stand out in your client’s mind.
Cost: Less than 50 cents for the stamp, $1 or so for the card and a little time
2. Mail an appropriate gift
This idea is a little harder to specify because there are so many amazing possibilities. The goal is to give something that will be useful and remind them of you. One business I know sells wrestling jerseys and they send a sample of the fabric and new colors in a small swatch and it doubles as a glasses and screen cleaner.
If you’re a health coach send a water bottle for the gym, if you do financial consulting send an envelope for receipt tracking, if you work help creative people with their branding, send them a box of crayons. Be creative!
Cost: Usually under $5 plus shipping
3. Give them praise
It’s a little harder to quantify but when you were selling a client into your program you probably talked a lot about what they could accomplish. What better time to point out those accomplishments and celebrate them together? You could do this with a certificate, a physical trophy, or even a handwritten note expressing how proud you are.
Look for milestones your clients are reaching, big decisions they’ve made, even personal growth benchmarks.
Cost: mostly time and your attention
No matter how you choose to celebrate your clients and show your appreciation for them, do it with integrity and authentically. And always do it with love.
